I guess you could say that I've been running since I was in elementary school. I can remember my dad would go for a run and he would let me run with him for his first mile. I also remember running the one mile loop in our neighborhood with my best friend. I moved on to track in junior high, and track and cross country in high school. I always loved running, well as much as one can love that kind of torture. Now as a busy wife and mom, it has been very off and on, but I always come back. This blog is a place for me to keep track of my on and off running life.

I really wanted to do 5 miles today. I must have been tired out from the intervals yesterday because I all I could do was 3 miles. Oh well, better than nothing!

  • Treadmill
  • 1 mile warm-up at 5.0
  • 7 x 400 at 7.0 with 400 in between intervals at a 3.0 walk
  • 1/2 mile cool down at 5.0
  • 137.4 lbs.
What a great work-out today, once I finally made myself get going. I am a day behind because my lower back has been hurting. I went to the chiropractor on Monday and I woke up really sore on Tuesday morning. But today I knew I had to get back at it.

As far as weight goes, I'm not sure how I ended up down at 137.4 this morning when yesterday morning I was up to 139.4. I have not been doing very well on my diet at all. It makes me realize how easy it is to slip back into my old habits. I know I need to eat healthier and make that a permanent lifestyle change, but I don't know that it will really ever happen. But, another challenge has been made. I have to put in $200 again. This time my goal is to get under 135 lbs. within 3 weeks. This challenge is what I need to do this. I need the motivation, and losing $200 is very very motivating!

I'd like to wish my weight loss buddies the best on this bet. We can do this together! Thanks for being such a great inspiration for me! Love ya!!

It is going to be a long winter if I have to start the treadmill running already. Rained all day here and they are calling for snow tomorrow. It is so hard to run on the treadmill for more than 3 miles! I gave Josh permission to nag me about my eating habits tomorrow. Ugh, when I am bad, I am really bad! Josh is home tomorrow so I am sure he will get me back on track. I hate to disappoint him. I think I need another big motivator to get me down another 5 lbs. I'm thinking on that one...

Running Tip #2

When you decide to cross to the other side of the road and you look back, don't start crossing as you look back. Look back FIRST and then if no one is coming start crossing. Because if you start to cross and look back and someone is coming, it will scare the bejeezus out of you and you will look like an idiot.

Running Tip #1

Put your hair back or it will blow in your face, get in your eyes, and in your mouth. Not fun.

I would have had a time, as a matter of fact, I was really wondering how my time would be today. But, I forgot Grace's watch(mine quit) and somehow my cell phone erased my time when I stopped to talk to a neighbor. Argh. I know it doesn't matter, but I just like to know. Oh well. I had Brooke drive me out 8 miles and I ran home. I like running that way, it seems to go so much faster than going out and back. I also really like running on the highway instead of the gravel. I did clock a couple of new routes this morning with Sophia. But they were both 9 mile routes, mostly gravel, and one had an almost 1/2 mile hill. I didn't figure I wanted to conquer that on my first 9 mile run. I actually thought about running 9 or 10 today, but when I got sidetracked by the neighbor it was hard to get going again so I gave up on that. But by the weariness in my body tonight, I think that it's probably a good thing I didn't push it!

What a beautiful day for a run! It was perfect out. The sky was completely clear, it was gorgeous. The sun was bright and there was a jet flying over that looked so cool up there with no clouds at all. I saw a deer or antelope. The sun was blinding me and it was pretty far away, but cool to see regardless. I smelled a skunk, thankful to not see one! I could hear the dried out weeds rustling in the ditches and the oil wells working as I ran past. Music to the ears of a driller's wife. The best part was coming home to my girls who were outside playing and so happy to see I made it home! I am curious to see how my Saturday 8 mile run goes after running 7 today. Normally I would only run 5 today, but after I ate way over my weight watcher's points yesterday, I new I would have to pay the price and add on some mileage...let's just hope it helps!
